Conducts system planning studies including load forecasts, voltage drop studies, short circuit analysis, arc-flash analysis, and other engineering and operational studies on the cooperative’s distribution & transmission system utilizing Engineering Analysis software.
Provide recommendations on system protection (coordination studies) and sectionalizing improvements
Makes recommendation of corrective actions that may be taken to improve system reliability.
Assist in developing and implementing 3-4-year Construction Work Plans and Long-Range Plans.
Monitor and report on the progress of assigned projects relative to schedule and budget as outlined in the construction work plan.
Evaluate new components and equipment that will meet the company standards.
Review and provide input on company engineering drawings and technical documentation including the specifications book, operations manual, and staking guide.
Provide technical recommendations on construction standards, equipment, and components used.
Review various operational reports and provide summary reports and analysis of system loads and load balance using SCADA, AMI and other sources of data and recommend appropriate actions to maintain operation within system planning criteria.
Work with consultant engineers to review and perform SEL and ABB protective relay settings for distribution breakers and reclosers.
Review and assess customer problems with voltage complaints, outages, flickering, etc.
Review and address feeder imbalances and work with Staking Technicians to maintain feeder balances when line taps are added to the system.

Possess a Bachelor of Science degree in Engineering or Engineering Technology from an EAC/ABET-accredited program or equivalent.
Knowledge of electrical engineering/power systems general properties and fundamentals.
Strong verbal communications skills including interacting with fellow employees, engineers, outside contractors, and field crews.
