Member Support Representative
OBJECTIVE:
To represent the cooperative and its consumers by executing all assigned responsibilities in a timely and efficient manner. To provide service to the cooperative’s members by:
1. By being member focused while maintaining efficient, courteous, and reliable service to all consumers of GVP with a strong emphasis in customer service.
2. Being familiar with the rural electric program, the cooperative's policies, and its method of operation in order to effectively communicate with the employees, members, and the general public.
RESPONSIBILITIES:
Within the limits of board policy, company tariffs, budgets, and legal requirements, assumes responsibility delegated by the Chief Financial Officer for the following activities, which are not intended to be all-inclusive, and other duties may be assigned:
1. Educate consumers, vendors, and/or contractors about GVP services and policies as required, and administer the services and policies as needed or directed.
2. Act as a central contact point for processing and scheduling internal and external consumer inquiries, requests, and event activities as needed or directed.
3. Answer and analyze incoming internal and external consumer communication and initiate action on the consumer’s behalf, either handling the situation individually or seeking assistance from other departments, as needed or directed.
4. Initiate, process, review, research, update, and maintain member and other consumer payments and records.
5. Perform billing processes and answers questions regarding members' bills.
6. Perform clerical duties as needed or directed. Duties may include but not be limited to data entry, answering phones, typing, filing, scanning, and copying documents.
3. KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS and ABILITIES:
Understands and applies the concept of providing quality electric service to GVP consumers and agrees to maintain a continuing commitment to providing value to all GVP consumers.
Requires the ability to develop plans, procedures and goals; present information to others; work cooperatively and independently; work in a changing environment to complete projects and tasks accurately within reasonable deadlines; and demonstrate flexibility when dealing with customer service requirements. Must work collaboratively with coworkers, consumers, and others.

5. QUALIFICATIONS:
Education:
1. High school diploma or equivalent required to provide reading, writing, mathematics, communications, and social skills necessary to perform the job.
2. Educational background in business or administrative field is desirable to provide necessary clerical skills.
Experience and Job Knowledge:
The following skills are required:
1. General computer skills with an emphasis on Microsoft Office applications.
2. Knowledge and familiarity with office machines with an emphasis on 10-key calculator.
3. One year of previous office employment to provide experience in handling cash, public relations, telephone etiquette, and general office procedures.
The following skills are desired:
1. Experience with a strong focus on customer service skills.
2. Knowledge of and experience with an electric utility.
3. Knowledge of and experience with NISC software.
6. ESSENTIAL PHYSICAL and MENTAL REQUIREMENTS:
Requires continuous sitting and use of a keyboard/computer; and occasional standing, walking, bending, kneeling, reaching and lifting up to 25 pounds. Requires finger dexterity, ability to perform close work, good vision and hearing; developed and demonstrated listening skills, and the ability to speak clearly. On a daily basis, requires attention to detail; the ability to read, write, and perform basic math; analyze data and reports; and conduct research.
Occasional travel by company vehicle and/or commercial means may be required.
