Performs System Reliability functions to improve and enhance the reliability performance of the transmission system to meet the needs of Members and corporate goals, specifically focused on developing analytic approaches and visualizations of existing data and providing recommendations to aid in supporting reliability initiatives.
(I) Collect, clean, and transform data from various sources, including relays, meters, databases, and external datasets. Perform advanced statistical and data analysis to identify trends, patterns, and anomalies. Conduct root cause analysis of operational issues and provide insights for resolution. Create compelling data visualizations, dashboards, and reports to communicate findings effectively to stakeholders. Use data visualization tools (e.g., Tableau, Power BI) to present data-driven insights. Will require assistance and overall supervision from senior engineers.
(II) Identifies ways to utilize data from various sources, including relays, meters, databases, and external datasets to proactively identify problems and prevent failures. Perform advanced statistical and data analysis to identify trends, patterns, and anomalies. Collaborate with other departments to understand data sources to conduct root cause analysis of operational issues and provide insights for resolution. Create compelling data visualizations, dashboards, and reports to communicate findings effectively to stakeholders in the FOC and ITS. Use data visualization tools (e.g., Tableau, Power BI) to present data-driven insights. Should be able to work with moderate assistance from senior engineers.
(Senior) Develop and implement predictive models to forecast equipment performance and maintenance needs. Evaluate model accuracy and refine models as needed. Monitor key performance indicators (KPIs) related to reliability, outage management, and system efficiency. Provide regular reports on performance metrics to management. Collaborate with engineering, maintenance, operations, and other stakeholders to understand business needs and provide data-driven solutions. Will partner with the Data & Analytics team to create processes to utilize data for more knowledgeable decision-making. Create compelling data visualizations, dashboards, and reports to communicate findings effectively to stakeholders in the FOC, ITS, and EMCs. Assist other department staff with benchmarking, project justification, and outage report reviews as needed. Review and evaluate the work products of peers and train/mentor less experienced staff.
REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS
Education: Bachelor's degree in mathematics, computer science, statistics, or quantitative field
Experience:
(I) Zero to three (3) years of experience using programming skills to analyze large datasets, preferably with an electric utility or power systems environment.
(II) Minimum two (2) to four (4) years of experience using programming skills to analyze large datasets, preferably with an electric utility or power systems environment.
(Senior) Minimum eight (8) years of experience using programming skills to analyze large datasets, preferably with an electric utility or power systems environment.
Specialized Skills:
(I) Strong problem-solving skills and knowledge of advanced statistical techniques and concepts. Proficient with Microsoft Excel spreadsheets and graphics; experience with Microsoft Word, PowerPoint, large databases, and/or Microsoft Access. Experience using computer languages (such as Python, R, SQL) to manipulate data and draw insights from large data sets. Experience utilizing data visualization tools (e.g., Tableau, Power BI) to create reports or dashboards. Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with a keen attention to detail. Excellent interpersonal, written, and verbal communication skills; ability to plan, organize and successfully complete assignments.

(Senior) This position requires a broad-based understanding and working knowledge of aspects of the functions and proper operating practices of the Georgia Integrated Transmission System. Prefer proficiency in data analysis tools and languages such as Python, R, SQL, and data visualization tools (e.g., Tableau, Power BI), with strong analytical and problem-solving skills with a keen attention to detail. This position also requires the ability to work both independently and with others to recognize and resolve operating problems. Must possess excellent communication skills to convey complex data findings to non-technical stakeholders. Capable of preparing and delivering presentations to various internal and external groups.
Valid Georgia Driver's License. Must be able to pass a NERC CIP personnel risk assessment screening and pass the ITS qualified operator training course, not to switch, but to have knowledge of system components.
