CFC has a need for a Staff Auditor II to join the Internal Audit team. This is a hybrid position requiring onsite work at our headquarters office in Sterling, VA, as well as optional remote workdays. The Staff Auditor II will perform the testing procedures for the more complex area of internal audits and special projects that are a part of the internal audit plan.
As a Staff Auditor II, you will: • Prepare narratives and flowcharts with minimal supervision. • Analyze the adequacy of the design of key operational, compliance, and financial reporting controls. • Obtain, review, and analyze supporting documentation to assess the effectiveness of key operational and application controls for complex business systems and processes. • Develop the audit programs and testing plans with minimal supervision. • Develop the data analytics approach and executes standard queries for data extraction and analysis with minimal supervision. • Document testing results and determine the impact of exceptions with minimal supervision. • Analyze and document issues noted and prepare recommendations to address risks and identify process improvements. • Provide guidance to staff auditors by answering questions, explaining work products and reviewing their work papers. • Present findings and recommendations to management in exit meetings. • Perform follow-up on management action items.
To be successful, you will need: • Bachelor’s degree in accounting, finance, or related business fields. • 3 years of auditing experience. • 5 years of professional experience in the following areas: accounting, auditing, credit, or financial analysis, is highly desired. • Certification or working towards certification is highly desired. • Intermediate knowledge of, and the ability to apply, accounting and audit practices and principles. • Proven ability to apply professional judgement to identify issues and recommend solutions. • Proven ability to complete tasks with a high level of integrity and objectivity; able to handle and protect confidential information. • Proven analytical skills and detail orientation. • Intermediate data extraction, data analytics, and statistical sampling skills. • Proven ability to communicate effectively verbally and in writing. • Ability to multitask and meet stringent deadlines with minimal supervision. • Proven negotiation and relationship building skills. • Able to work as a member of team and promote a collaborative work environment. • Intermediate MS office skills. • Ability to work with and use standard office equipment. • Ability to research information and quickly learn new concepts to apply to an audit program. • Strong problem solving skills. • Knowledge of financial services industry preferred.
