NEC is seeking a qualified individual to fill the position of a Journeyman Lineman in its Reserve, New Mexico Office. NEC has locations in Reserve, New Mexico and throughout the White Mountains of Arizona. It is a place of beautiful scenery, mild climate and has a small community atmosphere where you know your neighbors. Hiking, hunting, fishing and other outdoors sports are available in this location.
RESPONSIBILITIES:
Perform and direct those employees assigned on his/her crew, in all line, sub-station and underground construction, maintenance and service work assigned to him/her with or without direct supervision.
Instruct personnel in the proper and safe way to perform their duties and instruct and train new personnel in the use of tools and equipment; provide safety training instructions and be responsible for the general safety of personnel and in the administering of first aid to injured persons when necessary; usually work on energized lines involving hazard and requiring caution and use of safety devices, such as rubber protective equipment and hot line tools.
Performs all duties in accordance with Safety Rules and Policies as established by the Co-op.
Accept call out duty for emergency calls after regular working hours.
May act as Foreman I or Area Representative from time to time, in their absence, after one year of continuous service as a Journeyman Lineman at NEC.
Responsible for the tools and material assigned to his/her vehicle as well as the general appearance and good housekeeping of the vehicle.
Required to climb poles, perform heavy lifting and work energized primary voltage in close quarters under condition where he/she must be very alert and not subject to passing out, or seizures.
Responsible for driving and operating trucks and heavy equipment, and the operation and directing of movement of aerial lift equipment.
Performs other duties as assigned.
QUALIFICATIONS:
Formal Education
High School education (or equivalent).
Must have completed a formal four (4) year Journeyman Lineman Apprenticeship program.
A thorough knowledge of all line materials, assemblies, equipment and apparatus, as well as of standard REA Specifications is required.
A thorough knowledge of Hot Line preventive maintenance work is required.
Special Skills
Good physical condition is required.
A thorough knowledge and understanding of all applicable safety rules, regulations and practices is required
Have or be able to obtain and maintain a valid Class “A” Arizona Commercial Driver's License within 30 days of employment.
Live within a 30 mile radius of reporting office.
HOURS OF OPERATION:4/10s The cooperative is currently on a 4/10 schedule (Monday through Thursday).
SALARY: The rate of pay for a Journeyman Lineman is $49.88/hr.
