Job Title: Engineer I Department: Engineering Location: Summerdale, AL
Description of Responsibilities:
•Survey and stake lines for overhead and underground electric service for individuals and subdivisions, including redesigning existing lines from overhead to underground or relocating overhead lines. •Prepare work orders and cost estimates, including personnel, material, and supply items for construction and maintenance project. •Managed the design, staking, and inspection of all line extensions. •Coordinate with members the maintenance of right-of-way before line construction begins and coordinate utility easements. •Maintain records of lines built and upgraded and ensure appropriate changes are made to the mapping system. •Ensure compliance of the Cooperative with local, state, and federal laws and regulations. •Calculate loads and clearances. •Calculate aid to construction for projects. •Prepare and obtain easements from property owners. •Make field inspections of sites and review the plans for proposed commercial and multi-family projects. •Responds to member inquiries.
Minimum Requirements: •Bachelor’s Degree in Engineering required. Electrical Engineering is preferred. Must have completed staking workshop offered by statewide and/or other training organizations. •Thorough knowledge of materials, methods, and techniques utilized in the construction, maintenance, and operation of electric utility projects. •Must have completed an underground distribution design course. Must attend distribution analysis and overcurrent protections workshop. •Must have the knowledge to operate all equipment needed in staking. •Good oral and written communication skills. •Perform all phases of GIS data collection and pole/equipment placement. Place construction stakes. Traverse rough terrain. Travel to field locations. •Valid driver's license required.
Working Conditions: •Office/Field environment. •Subject to call out during adverse weather conditions or other emergencies.
