NEC is seeking a qualified individual to fill the position of System Administrator. NEC is situated within the White Mountains of Arizona, 180 miles NE of Phoenix. It is a place of beautiful scenery and mild climate, with a small community atmosphere where you know your neighbors. The area abounds in opportunities for hiking, hunting, fishing and other outdoors sports.
RESPONSIBILITIES: The Systems Administrator is responsible for installation, configuration and maintenance of essential IT infrastructure, including operating systems, security tools, applications, servers, email systems, software, and hardware. This position backs up the role of the Network System Operations Administrator II and will assist with network configuration, maintenance and security.
DUTIES INCLUDE:
Perform Microsoft and Linux server administration tasks (ex: Active Directory administration tasks such as: user/group, security permissions, group policies, print services); patching and upgrading servers, research event-log warnings and errors; and monitor resources to ensure that systems architecture components work together seamlessly.
Monitor server health using existing management tools, and respond to hardware issues as they arise; help build, test, and maintain new servers when needed.
Maintain internal infrastructure requirements, including laptop and desktop computers, servers, routers, switches, firewalls, printers, phones, security updates; support internet, intranet, LANs, WANs, and network segments.
Assist the help desk and other teams with troubleshooting to identify root cause, and provide technical support when needed. System Administrator 34-2321 2 9/3/2024
Perform routine and scheduled audits of all systems, including backups.
Special Duties
Oversee and assist with special projects as needs dictate.
Responsibilities sometimes require working evenings and weekends, sometimes with little advanced notice.
Regular, proactive communication and correspondence within IT and other departments with IT system status and alerts.
Provide recommendations and participate in creating/maintaining the annual IT Budget, IT Technology Plan, Cybersecurity/DR Plan, NEC Strategic Plan, and providing data for various audits.
QUALIFICATIONS:
Formal Education
Bachelor’s degree in Information Technology, Computer Science, or related degree.
Previous Job Experience
Five years of progressive experience in IT with assignments in Server management.
Network management and other backend system experience.
SPECIAL SKILLS :
Position deals with a variety of complex and unique situations.
Must have the ability to successfully research and assimilate new information and make strategic recommendations based on that research and testing. Has to enjoy and be successful in solving problems without a clear path to an answer.
Strong written and oral communications skills. Ability to communicate complex information at both technical and non- technical levels.
A thorough knowledge and understanding of all applicable electric utility safety rules, regulations and practices.
Will often function as a lead or project manager and at times be responsible for training, instruction, setting the work pace, and evaluating performance. Must be comfortable in a leadership role from time to time.
Must have or be able to obtain and maintain a valid Arizona Driver's License within 30 days of employment.
HOURS OF OPERATION:4/10s The cooperative is on a 4/10 schedule (Monday through Thursday).
SALARY: $87,000 - $108,000 D.O.E.
