Responsible for coordinating daily activity and the direct supervision of Substation work-group employees, including daily/weekly/monthly human resource scheduling and operations permitting. Responsible for the development and implementation of construction and maintenance schedules for Hoosier Energy’s Transmission/Distribution substation facilities and related equipment. Coordinates the development and input of data into maintenance program databases. Assists in the planning of Transmission/Distribution substation construction activities and coordinates with other departments and contractors. Works in conjunction with the project management office and reliability and asset management departments to plan, schedule and allocate resources for projects and maintenance initiatives. Assists the distribution Member systems with corrective maintenance requests as needed. Assists with after-hours corrective maintenance/outage restoration coordination activity as needed. Serves as relief supervisor for other transmission operations department coordinators as needed.
DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
Develops departmental schedules for construction and maintenance activity including individual human resource schedules.
Involved in daily tasks required to construct, operate and maintain Hoosier Energy’s power delivery system with emphasis on transmission/distribution station assets, as well as material coordination related to such activity.
Coordinates with Area Coordinator - Line to share department resources as needed for construction and maintenance activities.
Coordinates Substation fleet vehicle/equipment maintenance needs with fleet department.
Furnishes data to assist in coordinating the maintenance plans for Hoosier Energy’s power delivery facilities with emphasis on transmission/distribution stations. Provides input to the department manager regarding the annual work plan for construction projects and necessary maintenance activity.
Assures that accurate records of appropriate maintenance activity for transmission and distribution stations are maintained, including entry into the computerized maintenance management system by Substation and Equipment Tester employees.
Gives input to engineering services departments on changing inspection procedures based on knowledge of accepted industry practices. Uses methods that protect Hoosier Energy’s investment in power delivery infrastructure.
Keeps abreast of transmission and distribution maintenance techniques, and recognizes technological innovations or advances. Subsequently, assists in the development of maintenance programs, which reflect the latest and best maintenance practices. Focuses on maintenance in the areas of Transmission/Distribution substation. Suggests to the department manager any recommendations about practices, procedures, system requirements or improvements in order to facilitate adequate system maintenance in a cost-effective manner. Formulates and files evidence to assist Subject Matter Experts prove compliance with NERC and RRO reliability standards that pertain to Transmission/Distribution substations.
Assists the Manager, Delivery Services with the execution of the Emergency Response Plan when necessary.
Coordinates maintenance and construction work activities with Member Distribution Coops and foreign utilities.
Assures the execution of work activities are performed in a safe manner and in compliance with all regulatory requirements.
JOB SPECIFICATIONS
Education:
Associate’s degree in Electronics, Engineering Technology disciplines or technical equivalent minimum
Bachelor’s degree in Electronics, Electrical Engineering or equivalent engineering or technology discipline preferred
Experience:
Five years of electrical utility experience in power delivery systems or related field minimum

Ability to manage multiple projects with varying scopes and timelines
Demonstrated level of professionalism and positive attitude

Must be familiar with the requirement for the construction, maintenance and operation of high voltage transmission and distribution substations with a basic understanding of metering, relays, switching and communication systems
Must be capable of walking contoured farm ground and irregular right-of-way environments to inspect right of way and transmission facilities
Must possess a valid driver’s license and have strong verbal and written communication skills.
