Key Responsibilities
- This field-based PIRC Planner position requires travel up to 90% of the time, within the assigned states/region. Assigned states/regions may rotate or shift over time.
- Performs all responsibilities in a manner consistent with exceptional customer service in accordance with the mission statement: "To provide high quality, objective investment and retirement education to NRECA member employees, recommending NRECA-sponsored investment products when appropriate to the individual's personal circumstance."
- Provides confidential, personalized verbal and written investment and retirement education and financial planning consulting to plan participants (active and retired/separated).
- Conducts standardized NRECA-sponsored PIRC presentations for employees and executives of member organizations. Presents and leads the formal program, answers attendee inquiries.
- Provides onsite coordination with local benefit administrators, field staff, meeting facility personnel and outside speakers.
- Executes ongoing relationship management strategy to maintain a high level of engagement and satisfaction and assist in the retention/conversion of pension assets. This strategy includes documenting conversations with participants and using tools and procedures to ensure proper follow-up and service.
- Maintains an extensive knowledge base on a broad range of financial planning and pension topics, including: the latest legal and business developments in the areas of retirement/investment planning, education funding, personal portfolio management, securities, life insurance/annuities, tax laws and estate planning issues; as well as Social Security and Medicare.
- Builds comprehensive knowledge of NRECA's policies and procedures and detailed knowledge of NRECA's pension, health and welfare plans and how they affect and interact with a participant's financial situation.
- Responsible for the proper security and disposal of any confidential information that he or she may possess in the course of performing this position's job duties, in accordance with NRECA's Personnel & Administrative Policy and HIPAA Privacy and Security Policies & Procedures Manuals.
Qualifications
Required Qualifications and Skills:
Bachelor's degree in the arts, sciences or business required or 4 years' experience working in relationship management, sales, trusts & estates, and or investment advisory services within the financial services industry; Master's degree preferred.
Minimum of 5 years of experience in business, finance, accounting, securities, insurance or pension plans consulting individuals on financial planning issues.
Must possess a professional designation such as CFP(r), CEBS(r), ChFC(r), CLU, CRPC(r), or RICP(r) or if previously maintained Series 6, 7, 63, 65 or 66 license, must obtain a professional designation such as CFP(r), CEBS(r), ChFC(r), CLU, CRPC(r), or RICP(r) within two years.
Preferred Qualifications
Master's degree preferred.
Essential Physical Requirements:
- The worker is required to have close visual acuity to perform an activity such as: preparing and analyzing data and figures; transcribing; viewing a computer terminal and extensive reading.
- Exerting up to 20 pounds of force occasionally, and/or up to 10 pounds of force frequently, and/or a negligible amount of force constantly to move objects. If the use of arm and/or leg controls requires exertion of forces greater than that for sedentary work and the worker sits most of the time, the job is rated for light work.
