Under direct supervision of a senior Lineworker and/or Foreman. Assists and participates in all phases of line work while demonstrating increased knowledge and aptitude for future advancement. Performs maintenance, service, and construction work on the cooperative’s electric transmission and distribution system. Performs numerous duties involved in the maintenance and construction of lines in both energized and de-energized states overhead and underground. Work often involves climbing poles and working out of a bucket truck as needed. Work on overhead lines, installing transformers, capacitors, regulators, or other line equipment. Follows Cooperative, NEC, NESC, OSHA, RUS, and state and other regulatory agency rules and procedures in the conduct of their work. Called out for outages.
Each lineworker will be tested into the Big Country Electric Cooperative Journeyman Lineworker Program by taking a computer-based knowledge test and a field performance evaluation. Once the results are compiled and considered, along with previous job experience, the lineworker will be placed in a classification level before any offer of employment is made.
