PURPOSE OF POSITION
To assist line crews, contractors and operations personnel by the proper receipt, storage and dispersal of material and supplies required in the construction and maintenance of electric distribution and transmission lines. Performs all aspects of coordination for a full-service warehouse.
MAJOR OBJECTIVES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
ACCOUNTABILITY - The following activities are specific to this position:
Having warehouse open, when needed by departments
Issuance of stock items to approved personnel
Accounting for all stock received, stored, and issued
Safe storage of all stock and warehouse neatness
Making periodic checks of materials and supplies to assure proper stock levels
Physical inventory of items in stock, annually and/or as required
Assembling materials and supplies for jobs from materials lists
Maintaining warehouse, warehouse grounds, and pole yard
Maintenance of assigned facilities and equipment
Supplying front office with copy paper/envelopes and order supplies as needed
MSDS tracking, inputting new listed items in database and verifying items are up to date
Equipment inventory (transformers, reclosers, regulators and meters)
Fork lift maintenance
Maintain and order rubber gloves (PPE) with American Safety as needed
Maintenance and inspection of all fire extinguishers for all buildings
Maintain and order supplies from all local vendors as needed
Maintenance, calibration and operation of floor scrubber for warehouse
Stock and maintain water and vending machines with suppliers
Schedule pickup of damaged/old transformers
Unload, organize and update logbook for transformers delivered
Organize and maintain items in the warehouse that are used for the Annual Meeting
Maintain fuel for the building generators and order as needed
Building maintenance (replacement/repair of light bulbs, ballasts, ceiling tiles, etc.) and reporting of leaks, door problems and painting as needed
Reports to immediate supervisor of progress and deviation from plans in areas of responsibility and communications with superiors and co-workers
Control of assigned expenditures and adherence to budget
Reviewing and approving all invoices for assigned areas of responsibility
Safety of members and the public affected by assigned operations
Favorable member and public relations through contacts
Adherence to schedules, deadlines, work procedures, and standards
Personal productivity
Communication and assistance to department supervisors and other employees
Deliveries within the Cooperative's office and unloading all deliveries to the Cooperative
Adherence to OSHA, safety, and Cooperative rules and procedures
Observation and reporting adverse and hazardous conditions to supervisor
Adherence to all Cooperative policies and procedures, safety and security policies and procedures, and supervisory and managerial directives
The following activities are performed by all CEMC employees:
Observe all safety rules.
Keep informed of all CEMC plans, policies and programs.
Keep supervisor informed of all activities.
Exercise reasonable care in the use of and security of all CEMC assets.
Make every effort to serve all consumer-members courteously and efficiently; to respond to their inquiries appropriately, and if necessary, refer them to the appropriate party for resolution.
Education: High School Diploma or equivalent
Job Training, Experience, and Knowledge: The individual must have prior experience in performing physical tasks of the type and demand of those of the position described. Must be capable of communicating effectively in written and oral form, and completing work reports and related work documentation. A combination of educational equivalents, and/or directly related prior work experience and/or training with demonstrated proficiency may be substituted for any or all of the educational requirements.
Abilities and Skills: Must have the ability to count and compare values (to determine wire gauge, footage per lb. of wire, etc. Must have the ability to use chart to figure quantities. Must be proficient, or capable of demonstrating proficiency in a short time, the effective utilization and application of computerized and related technological methods applicable to the duties of the position. Must have or be willing to acquire a thorough knowledge of all line materials, equipment and apparatus. Must have the ability to work as a team in the promotion and accomplishment of the organization’s goals and objectives overall and as they relate to the department. Must have the ability to interact positively with others, solve problems and communicate solutions to others constructively. Must have the ability to use computers and calculators.
Equipment and Machinery Operated: Must have the ability to use proper tools, such as, but not limited to, two wheel dolly, fork jack, fork lift and electric hoist.
General physical activity and demands: Position requires the individual to be capable of stooping, bending, reaching, climbing, and grasping. Must have the ability to lift 50 - 60 pounds on a regular basis. Must have the ability to lift 25 – 30 pounds above head, sometimes repeatedly for a short period of time. Moving weights in excess of 100 pounds may be occasional. Must have the ability to push by hand approximately 250 lbs., sometimes with use of a dolly. Must be capable of utilizing hand held and manually operated tools coincident with the duties of the position. Duties of the position are performed outside with exposure to weather extremes.
Driver’s License requirement: Must maintain a valid N.C. Driver’s License of the type specified by the Cooperative as necessary to carry out the duties assigned to the position. Must maintain a valid forklift license.

Overtime Status: This position is subject to the overtime requirements of the Fair Labor Standards Act, as amended.
