Requirements: Construction, maintenance and repair of electrical lines and equipment to ensure safe, reliable and efficient operation of the Cooperative’s overhead and underground distribution and transmission system. This position requires the ability to report for work either at the Bend or Redmond yard, depending on workload.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
Install, connect and maintain overhead and underground utility facilities. Including, but not limited to, pole setting, primary and secondary wire installation, single and three phase transformer(s), capacitors, OCRs and regulators
Construction and maintenance of lines and services may require pole climbing, hot sticking and working out of a truck mounted aerial device at all times of day or night and all types of weather
Operate switches, cutouts, OCRs, regulators and all other powerline devices
Knowledge and use of grounding devices to work on de-energized lines and equipment
Locate and repair underground primary and secondary cable faults
Perform hot work up to and including 115kV
Patrol and identify overhead and underground facilities; recognize and make repairs as needed
Responsible for all safety requirements and use of PPE associated with line construction, outage restoration and daily work assignments
Keep trucks, equipment and tools in a workman like manner
Report for work at CEC Headquarters (Redmond or Bend) as needed
Must be available for after hour emergency work and weekend on call duty as assigned
QUALIFICATIONS:
Must be 18 years of age or older; high school graduate or equivalent
Completion of a recognized apprenticeship program for Journeyman Lineman
Proficient in using tools and equipment of the trade on energized and de-energized systems
Must have working knowledge of the fundamentals of electricity as it pertains to utility systems
Must have or be able to obtain a valid Class A Oregon CDL license within 30 days
Required to have current CPR/First aid certification
