Join a great team as an Operation and Maintenance (O & M) Technician III at ODEC’s Wildcat Point Generation Facility (WPGF) in Conowingo Maryland. The O&M Tech ensures the safe, efficient, and proper operation and maintenance of ODEC’s combined cycle power generation facility in Conowingo. General duties include startup, shutdown and normal operations of all plant systems including the main combustion turbines, steam turbine, heat recovery steam generators, and auxiliary systems. This position performs routine shift rounds and includes monitoring and troubleshooting of all plant equipment external to the control room. This position strictly adheres to all safety and environmental rules and regulations to protect employees and public safety. This position requires working varying hours in a team environment while performing various support functions.
Essential responsibilities include:
Support startup, shutdown, and normal operations of CT generators, steam turbine, heat recovery steam generators (HRSGs), and auxiliary equipment, in compliance with ODEC’s operating policies and procedures
Perform plant rounds, inspections, and meter and gauge readings
Troubleshoot and monitor auxiliary equipment and control systems
Performs preventative and corrective maintenance activities on equipment to ensure the ongoing reliability of the plant
Effectively interact with other members of the team and outside vendors and maintains open and effective communication with managers, co-workers, and vendors
Effectively contribute to the general housekeeping and continuous improvement of the facility in addition to maintaining cleanliness of all areas, equipment, and tools
The O & M Technician III will typically work 12-hour shifts (6:00 AM – 6:00 PM or 6:00 PM to 6:00 AM), however will need to be able to work overtime, irregular hours, and on short notice an adjusted work schedule, based on plant requirements.
Minimum Qualifications: Qualified candidate will have a minimum 1 years’ experience in power plant operations or equivalent military or industrial facility experience

Preferred Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:
Combined Cycle experience preferred
Beginner level proficiency with Microsoft Word, Excel, Outlook
Education Required: High school diploma or equivalent
Licenses Required: Valid driver’s license. Ability to obtain a Maryland Stationary Engineer’s License (Grade 5 or higher) within 18 months of employment
Working Conditions and Physical Demands:
Work outdoors for long periods of time while exposed to various temperatures and weather conditions
Walk on uneven surfaces and stack platforms and climb stack ladders hundreds of feet high
Work around hazardous chemicals utilizing proper personal protective equipment (PPE)
Distinguish colors and accurately read and interpret instruments and gauges
Ability to pass a respirator physical and respirator fit test
Hear and understand audible alarms and detect changes in noise levels of rotating equipment and portable radio communication
Occasionally work in confined spaces
Occasionally lift and or move objects up to 50 pounds
Occasional travel via automobile or commercial airline
Compensation:
Compensation range: $45.07/hour to $50.08/hour
Based on the requirements of this role, the target rate we anticipate paying the selected candidate is $45.07 per hour. If an employment offer is extended, the rate offered will consider several factors, including but not limited to relevant experience, skills, education, and certifications. Depending on an individual's qualifications, the offered rate may exceed this target.
