Niobrara Electric Association (NEA), headquartered in Lusk, Wyoming, has an opening for a Journeyman Lineman stationed at its outpost in Harrison Nebraska. NEA is a cooperative which serves over 5,400 square miles of territory with 2,320 miles of energized line in three states serving over 3,300 meters. Pre-employment drug screening and physicals will be required. Essential Functions include but are not limited to: 1. Construct and maintain overhead and underground power line and equipment in accordance with the NESC and RUS guidelines and Association safety policies. 2. Operate substation equipment and interpret data from it. 3. Install specialized equipment such as meters, voltage regulators, transformers. 4. Read and interpret staking sheets. 5. Attend and participate in Association safety meetings. 6. Inspect facilities for loose hardware, damage and violation of modern construction standards and correct deficiencies. 7. Perform switching procedures as necessary to facilitate operations. 8. Maintain a minimum material inventory on service vehicles and assist in tracking warehouse inventory. 9. Must be proficient in the operation of a personal computer 10. Work with members to address concerns 11. Review and respond to outages. 12. Collect member payment, disconnect service, or reconnect service as directed.
Job Knowledge: 1. Must be able to develop working knowledge of utility systems, construction, operations, and maintenance. 2. Ability to work under pressure while maintaining control is required. 3. Must develop thorough knowledge of RUS construction units and standards. 4. Must be able to climb a pole with standard line worker equipment.
