Bandera Electric Cooperative proudly distributes electricity to members across seven counties in Central Texas. The BEC Fiber division, began offering 100% fiber broadband in 2017 and currently provides fiber internet service to members and subscribers in eight counties in the Texas Hill Country.

Our Technical Systems department is looking for an Apparatus Technician. The Apparatus Technician is a leader for construction and maintenance of BEC’s technical systems.
The department is responsible for substations, metering, programming, testing and installation of various types of distribution equipment along with other task to ensure reliability of BECs system.
Essential Job Duties
Assist, with limited supervision, in the use, installation, testing and maintenance of:
Transformers, Electronic Reclosers, Voltage regulators, Capacitor Banks, Voltage recorders
Substations including (meter reading, switching, grounds keeping, battery maintenance, and pump spill containment reservoirs, etc.)
Meters, CT metering
Operate test equipment.
Locate radio and television interference problems associated with electric lines.
Operate radio equipment as directed, abiding by Bandera Electric rules and regulations.
Prepare and distribute miscellaneous reports as required and ensure that all reports are timely compiled and delivered to the immediate supervisor.
Cordially and efficiently handle and assist others in dealing with member/employee questions and complaints.
Other Duties as assigned.
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities.
Ability to work on energized lines and equipment.
Must have the skills necessary to use all the equipment utilized in the position.
Self-motivated, reliable, safe worker, and able to work with others or alone without close supervision.
Good written and oral communications skills.
Ability to work in elevated heights.
Must have the ability to safely operate Cooperative vehicles and equipment in all weather conditions
Must have the capability to set-up and operate the following equipment:
Bucket truck, Boom truck, Forklift
Must have the ability to operate Cooperative vehicles and equipment in all weather conditions.
Proficient with technology and use of computers.
Must pass background and drug screening.
Qualifications and Requirements
High school diploma or equivalent.
Journeyman Lineman. (DOL approved or equivalent)
Perform "Hurt Man Rescue" (Pole top & Bucket truck) in 4 minutes or less
Must have Texas issued Commercial Driver’s License (Class A)
Must pass DOT physical, background and drug screening.
