Position Summary
Work with Lead Electrician to provide cooperative members generator maintenance by rendering prompt, efficient service and communications that promote goodwill between the cooperative and its members. Work as an assistant for Lead Electrician as directed.
Qualifications
Education and Experience
High School diploma or equivalent.
Commit to obtaining a generator maintenance certification as soon as possible.
Must be able to read, write and perform basic mathematical computations.
Working knowledge of Microsoft programs.
Work experience preferred in which there has been a demonstrated ability to carry out the position responsibilities.

Must possess the skills to develop and maintain effective working relationships with the public, members, fellow employees, etc.
Must show respect for the public’s property and privacy.
Must be able to project a favorable image for Kay Electric Cooperative.
Must have interest in proper care and handling of vehicles and related equipment.
Must have demonstrated ability to learn and apply safety rules and regulations.
Must have a sound knowledge of engine repair. Must be familiar with or become quickly familiar with the service territory and the distribution system of the Cooperative.
Licenses and Certifications
Valid Oklahoma Driver’s License required.
CDL preferred or ability to obtain and maintain post-hire.
Must obtain and maintain all Generac generator certifications to service Kay Electric generator maintenance contracts.
Key Duties and Responsibilities
Repair, test, service, and maintain generators using hand tools, power tools, and other equipment, which includes routine generator oil changes, ensuring optimal performance.
Inspect generators and equipment to identify hazards, defects, and the need for adjustment or repair, including engine repair, and to ensure compliance with code.
Perform business management duties such as maintaining records and files, preparing reports, and ordering supplies and equipment.
Work from ladders, scaffolds, and bucket truck as needed.
Follow safety protocols and ensure compliance with industry standards.
Support diagnostic procedures to timely identify and resolve technical issues.
Records and reports any potential hazards to the respective Operations Department and Engineering Department.
Physical Demands and Working Conditions
Walk over rugged terrain and cross fences, ditches, and creeks as required.
Drive long distances within the service territory (up to 250 miles/day).
Work outdoors in adverse weather conditions (heat, cold, rain, etc.).
This position is classified as a Safety Sensitive position and must be able to lift and carry up to 50 pounds and enter/exit vehicle frequently.
Additional Requirements
Must be available for after-hours assignments during outages or emergencies.
Must maintain a safety-conscious attitude and follow all Cooperative policies.
Must live within a reasonable distance of the Cooperative headquarters.
