PRE-APPRENTICE GROUNDMAN 1^st YEAR

Navopache Electric Cooperative, Inc. (NEC)

NEC is seeking a qualified individual to fill the position of Pre-Apprentice Groundman 1st Year.  NEC is situated within the White Mountains of Arizona, 180 miles NE of Phoenix.  It is a place of beautiful scenery and mild climate, with a small community atmosphere where you know your neighbors.  The area abounds in opportunities for hiking, hunting, fishing and other outdoors sports.

LOCATION: Lakeside, AZ 

RESPONSIBILITIES:  The successful applicant will assist line crew in all assigned duties. This position is under the supervision of the Foreman I and/or Area Representative. 

DUTIES:

1. Assists line crew in all construction and maintenance of transmission and distribution lines and structures, underground facilities and substations.
2. On occasions drive large equipment to and from job site.
3. May dig holes, erect poles and send tools and/or materials up to linemen by means of a hand line.
4. May assist in patrolling transmission and distribution facilities and line noting and reporting defects, trouble or conditions likely to cause future problems or interruptions of service.
5. Loads and unloads line construction material on trucks, trailers and in warehouse.
6. Performs all duties in accordance with Safety Rules and Policies as established by the Cooperative. Remains proficient in first aid and resuscitation techniques and administers first aid to injured persons when necessary.
7. Responsible for tools and material assigned to the vehicle on which he is working as well as the general good housekeeping of vehicles.
8. Accepts call out duty for emergency calls after regular working hours.
9. Perform other duties as assigned.

QUALIFICATIONS: 

1. Formal Education
2. High School education (or equivalent).

Previous Job Experience

1. Mechanical aptitude, training or experience preferred.

 Special Skills

1. Good physical condition is required.
2. Have or be able to obtain a valid Class “A” Arizona Commercial Driver’s License.
3. Live within a 30-mile radius of reporting office.

HOURS OF OPERATION:  4/10s   NEC is currently on a 4/10 schedule (Monday through Thursday). 

SALARY:  The rate of pay for a Pre-Apprentice Groundman 1^st Year is $31.00/hr.
