The Cyber Services Infrastructure Engineer will serve the members and support the goals of Jefferson Energy Cooperative (JEC) by designing, implementing, and maintaining JEC's IT server and network infrastructure. This role is critical to ensuring the reliability, security, and scalability of JEC’s systems, including servers, networks, storage, and cloud environments. The Infrastructure Engineer will leverage their strong technical background, excellent problem-solving skills, and work collaboratively across departments to support JEC systems. This position is ultimately responsible for maintaining availability and performance of all systems.

III. MAJOR RESPONSIBILITIES/ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS OF POSITION:
Infrastructure Design & Deployment:
Architect and implement scalable IT infrastructure solutions including servers, storage, networking, and cloud platforms.
System Maintenance & Monitoring:
Ensure high availability and performance of mission-critical systems through proactive monitoring and regular maintenance.
Security & Compliance:
Design, implement, and manage security protocols to protect data and systems, ensuring compliance with JEC’s Information Security Program and industry standards.
Troubleshooting & Support:
Diagnose and resolve hardware, software, and network issues; provide Tier 2 and 3 support as needed.
Project Management:
Lead infrastructure-related projects, including system upgrades, migrations, and new deployments.
Collaboration:
Work closely with coworkers to ensure seamless integration and operation of systems.
Work with JEC’s outside vendors and Managed Service Providers (MSP) to:
Ensure backups are maintained and stored properly within JEC’s defined standard 508-S1 – Backup and Recover Standard. Backups must be tested for recoverability and confirmed to be usable in accordance with the Standard.
Follow up on security events to ensure proper procedures are followed ensuring the safety and security of member data.
Other IT Responsibilities:
Design, establish and maintain controls for accuracy, reliability, efficiency, cost-effective operation and inventory of JEC computer and network systems.
Stay abreast of technological advancements, including new operating systems, software releases and upgrades.
Coordinate the completion and maintenance of equipment and any required licensing in accordance with federal and local government specifications on a periodic basis; complete and verify that detailed documentation as required.
Assist in regular management and administration of the Information Security Program and related duties.
Report suspected failures to follow the Information Security Program policies and standards to the Cyber Services Supervisor.
Recommend content and improvements for the Cyber Awareness Training Program.
Develop, manage, and monitor patching program to ensure systems are kept up to date for security purposes in accordance with the Information Security Program.
Participate in Cyber Services on-call rotation.
Assist in the preparation of capital and expense budgets.
Participate in and promote the “team” concept at all times through interactive communication, engagement, and active participation.

Interact with vendors and consultants (Meridian Cooperative, Hewlett-Packard, Dell, auditors, etc...) concerning the Cyber Services Department information, equipment, and functions.
Maintain relationships in all contacts with the public to demonstrate an awareness that the job exists to effectively serve each member/consumer.

Bachelor’s degree in computer science or related field and 3 years of experience as an Infrastructure Engineer or similar role managing an enterprise network consisting of 250+ networked devices. Experience may be considered in lieu of educational requirements.
Preferred:
5+ years of experience as an Infrastructure Engineer, plus 5 years of experience as Tier 2 or 3 Support.
Experience in an Industrial Control System or SCADA environment.

Working Conditions and Physical Effort:
Typical conditions are indoors and business office conditions. Outdoor conditions may occasionally be expected to assist with work at JEC tower locations.
May be required to push and pull a minimum of 100 pounds; The ability to lift a minimum of 75 pounds. Frequently stands, walks, stoops, bends, and climbs. Excellent hand-eye coordination required. Due to equipment (ladders) weight limits, the technician must weigh 315 lbs. or less.
Must be able to operate a motor vehicle to remote tower sites for equipment maintenance, including travel for business trips and training.
