This position will plan and direct power plant maintenance, managing work to be completed in a safe, efficient and cost-effective manner to support both daily operations and long-term reliability.
Essential Functions
Plan and manage maintenance work; schedule crew(s), parts, supplies, tools, and transportation; review and update status of projects.
Develop, implement, and manage assigned areas within the computerized maintenance management system.
Maintain and manage maintenance records, train personnel in utilization of the system.
Initiate repairs and requisition materials.
Manage maintenance associated with power generation and balance of plant equipment.
Plan and prepare budget forecasts for maintenance and projects.
Plan and maintain a maintenance forecasting schedule for major maintenance and projects; work across functional divisions for coordination and planning.
Coordinate with Operations Manager(s) and respond to requests for corrective maintenance.
Manage and coordinate contractors performing work on and off site.
Develop and manage inspection schedules.
Prepare, review, and approve appropriate documents, records, work orders and reports.
Draft, review and manage reports for overhauls and complete annual inspection checklists.
Document equipment failures and perform root cause analysis; formulate solutions to minimize recurrence.
Maintain maintenance history of equipment to include documentation of implementations.
Assist in maintenance support contracts including development of work scope, quality assurance, change management, and cost control.
Observe and enforce safety rules and practices, encourage safe work behaviors, and promptly correct conditions and unsafe activities.
Develop formal procedures and checklists to reduce errors, provide standardization, and improve Quality Assurance (QA)/Quality Control (QC) and training.
Support continuous improvement and operational efficiency by identifying areas of opportunity and sharing recommendations.

Operations Manager: Coordinate with, exchange and provide information.

Bargaining Unit Representatives
Repair Facilities: Communicate with and coordinate work.
Consulting Firms and Manufacturers: Coordinate with and exchange information.
Local Vendors: Consult with.
Competencies
Knowledge of industrial turbines and associated auxiliary equipment.
Knowledge of heavy lift rigging, vibration analysis and rotating machine balancing.
Knowledge of welding and machining.
Ability to maintain organization and complete tasks in a timely and efficient manner.
Ability to manage cross-functional teams and develop effective working relationships.
Ability to be self-motivated and function efficiently with little or no supervision.
Ability to interpret and apply complex Piping and Instrumentation Diagrams (P&ID’s), schematics, technical letters, and vendor manuals.
Knowledge of project management principals with ability to effectively execute a project from planning to completion.
Knowledge of gas turbines (aero derivative and frame), steam turbines, hydro turbines, and plant auxiliary systems.
Must be able to train, mobilize and motivate a safe and efficient workforce.
Demonstrated ability to organize workflow and effectively utilize resources.
Effective written and oral communication skills.
Supervisory Responsibility
This position has supervisory responsibility for plant maintenance personnel.
Work Environment
This is a field position at plant sites. Work may be assigned to a remote site as required to complete projects or assume similar duties. Travel may require use of a company vehicle, fixed-wing or helicopter aircraft. Some evening and weekend work may be required, including infrequent periods of around-the-clock work during emergencies and equipment testing. Occasional work in excess of a normal workday may be required. Schedule and base location may be modified due to changes in Chugach business plans and/or maintenance needs at other facilities.

Bachelor’s degree in mechanical, electrical, industrial engineering or related field, required.
Experience
Five (5) years of progressively responsible experience, including supervisory in inspecting, repairing, and overhauling rotating machinery with emphasis on turbines and turbine generators, required. Experience in preventive and predictive maintenance programs, required. Experience working in a union environment, preferred.
Substitution
Additional professional experience in a similarly complex role or related field (above the 5-year minimum) may be substituted for the required education on a year-for-year basis.
