Provides assistance to the Senior Safety and Training Specialist in the administration of all technical training programs. Oversees, coordinates and conducts classroom and field instruction as necessary. Assures Hoosier Energy’s ability to provide and train apprentices in all technical areas related to Distribution, Transmission, Substation and Meter/Relay work. Assists field personnel and member systems with technical assistance and leadership.
DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
Administers or assists with the Meter Technician program and the Revenue Meter Certificate Program.
Administers or assists with the Substation program.
Assists Hoosier Energy power delivery department with technical advice and leadership.
Researches, plans, organizes, coordinates, and conducts classroom and field instruction as necessary for apprentices, clerical, supervisory, technical and management personnel. Coordinates outside training resources as necessary. Provides technical assistance and skill improvement training to all personnel and member system employees. Stays abreast of the latest instructional techniques, innovations and industry innovations.
Gains and applies knowledge to help maintain compliance with IOSHA, OSHA, FMSCA, DOT, NEC, NESC.
Conducts inspections and investigations concerning loss prevention and accident investigation. Works closely with insurance carriers in providing information for settling claims associated with member systems, damaged equipment and worker’s compensation claims.
Administers records for each participant in training programs.
Provides or conducts training presentations, as well as, consultative expertise to operations managers, field personnel and other appropriate staff of the member REMCs/RECs. Provides assistance in the development and implementation of their individual training and safety objectives, programs and activities, and support material.
Performs other duties as assigned.
Associate’s Degree in EET, Safety, Employee Development or related field from accredited institution required minimum.
Familiarity with all applicable State and Federal regulations.
Strongly based in the principles of electricity at all voltages, to include equipment and tools associated with transmissions, distribution, substation, meter/relay and power generation trades.
8 years' in the operations, maintenance and/or construction departments of either an electrical transmission or distribution system, to include demonstrated teaching skills.
Skills and Abilities:
Ability to communicate with company employees, trainers from other companies, professional training group members, and consultants by phone, in person, or through correspondence.
Must be capable of developing a personal approach conducive to student participation, attentiveness and enthusiasm.
Must be able to utilize various computer software programs.
Must be able to traverse rough terrain and power plant environments.
Must be able to obtain and maintain an Emergency Medical responder certification.
Must possess a valid Indiana driver’s license.
Must be able to obtain a valid commercial driver's license.
Must be able to obtain technical certifications related to distribution, transmission, substation, and meter/relay work.
Must be able to obtain a Flagger Trainer Certificate within a specified period.
