Golden Valley Electric Association (GVEA) of Fairbanks, AK is looking to hire a full-time Safety Administrative Assistant as part of the Member Services Division located in Fairbanks, AK. GVEA is an electric cooperative which maintains 3,261 miles of transmission and distribution lines, 35 substations, and 9 generating facilities. Our system is interconnected with Fort Wainwright, Eielson AFB, Fort Greely, the University of Alaska-Fairbanks, and all of the electric utilities in the Alaska Railbelt, extending from Homer to Fairbanks. Our Safety Administrative Assistant provides technical and administrative support to the Safety Section. They provide administrative support and information management services for the Safety section by storing information accurately and appropriately, to meet regulatory compliance, customer service and management needs. They serve as a professional in safety practices and safety regulations to facilitate delivery of safety education programs and administration of all activities related to safety and worker's compensation loss control programs. While assisting the Safety Specialists, they also conduct new employee safety orientations, schedule training sessions corporate wide and help with report preparation.
The Safety Administrative Assistant plays an integral role in GVEA's ability to serve the Interior of Alaska in providing reliable electric service at fair and reasonable prices!
QUALIFICATIONS FOR A SAFETY ASSISTANT
Associate degree in Occupational Safety & Health, Business Administration or related field or High School graduate with two years or more of employment in a safety specific or administrative role required.
Minimum of three years relevant experience in a related field.
Valid Alaska driver's license is required.
Occupational Health and Safety certification, Certified Professional Secretary (CPS) or Certified Administrative Professional is preferred.
Previous work experience in a Cooperative or Electric Utility would be preferred but multiple factors will be taken into consideration.

WORK SCHEDULE
This position typically works 8 hours per day, 5 days per week. Additional hours as required.
