Joe Wheeler EMC is a not-for-profit, 501©12electric utility serving approximately 45,000 meters, 4200 natural gas and 14,500 fiber customers in Morgan and Lawrence County, Alabama. We are headquartered at 25700 AL Highway 24, Trinity, AL.
Position Summary: The Chief Financial Officer (CFO) is a senior executive who is responsible for managing and leading the financial objectives of Joe Wheeler EMC, along with our subsidiaries, JWEMC Communications, LLC dba Flash Fiber, and Wheeler Basin Natural Gas Company.

Requirements: A Bachelor’s degree in Accounting or Finance and a CPA, MBA, or CMA are required for this position. Extensive knowledge of all general accounting principles and areas of an electric cooperative, broadband utility, and natural gas is required. At least six (6) years’ experience in general ledger accounting, accounts payable, RUS/FERC plant and/or cost accounting, inventory management, payroll accounting, and developing data processing methods for accounting functions. Supervisory and management experience is required. Must have analytical ability to resolve complex problems. Good oral and written communication skills are essential to this position. A thorough knowledge of the Federal Energy Regulatory Commission and RUS Uniform System of Accounts is required. An in-depth knowledge of electric, broadband, and gas industry rate making process is required.
