JOB DESCRIPTION
The Information Technology (IT) Technician provides technical support to users of the system and proactively recommends improvements. The IT Technician is responsible for installing, modifying, and making repairs to the computer hardware and software systems to ensure business continuity.
JOB DIMENSIONS
Internal Responsibility – The IT Technician works collaboratively with the Information Technology Director to support the technology needs of the Cooperative and to ensure business continuity.
External Responsibility – The IT Technician communicates and works closely with outside vendors and consumer members, in an efficient and courteous manner, to promote the Cooperative’s objectives.
PRINCIPAL ACCOUNTABILITIES
Consistently demonstrates a behavioral pattern that supports DREMC’s 11 Essential Attributes.
Primarily supports team members on inquiries relating to the operation of hardware, software, and network services.
Listens attentively to team member questions and concerns and offers optimal solutions.
Prioritizes team member satisfaction in all communications, directing unresolved issues to next-level support.
Effectively communicates with team members to ensure performed work causes minimal interruption to business activities.
Inspects computer equipment, installations, or assists in installation of hardware and peripheral components.
Ability to troubleshoot and understand patterns of key subsystems such as processor, RAM, network, and storage.
Loads software packages such as operating systems, office suite applications, and communication equipment.
Diagnoses system hardware, software, and operator problems.
May perform system administration duties such as adding new users, network backup and permissions, etc.
May be involved in network projects including, but not limited to, network buildout, maintenance, and troubleshooting.
Ensures IT data security, risk management, disaster recovery and business continuity planning processes by providing regular review for accuracy and adequacy.
Plans and evaluates new technology solutions in view of organizational goals and objectives.
Maintains confidentiality, integrity, and availability of all IT systems and solutions to ensure business continuity.
Studies and applies Duck River Electric Membership Corporation policies, procedures, by-laws, rules and regulations.
MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS
Education — Associate’s Degree from an accredited college/university or technical school in computer science, information technology (IT), management information systems (MIS) or related field required or four (4) years’ applicable experience may be considered in lieu of a degree.
Experience — Minimum of two (2) years of experience in computer science, IT or MIS preferred.
Certification/License, etc. — Must possess or be able to obtain a valid Tennessee Driver’s License. Must be eligible and remain insured as a driver by the Cooperative’s group liability policy for the automotive fleet.
Knowledge/Skills/Abilities — Knowledge of current trends and developments in the information technology field. Knowledge of computer platform, local area networks (LAN), web, cloud, and mobile based systems. Ability to occasionally lift and carry 25-50 pounds. Ability to sit for long periods of time. Ability to stand, walk, sit, bend, stoop, squat, push and/or pull. Possesses effective oral and written communications skills. Ability to prioritize, delegate and meet deadlines.
