Information Technology (IT) Infrastructure Administrator

POSITION PURPOSE:
The IT Infrastructure Administrator provides technical support to users of the system and proactively recommends improvements. The IT Infrastructure Administrator is responsible for installing, modifying, and making repairs to the virtual and physical server environment, and the Duck River Electric Membership Corporation (DREMC) computer networks to ensure business continuity.
JOB DIMENSIONS:
Internal Responsibility– The IT Infrastructure Administrator works collaboratively across DREMC offices to support the technology needs of the cooperative and ensures business continuity.
External Responsibility–The IT Infrastructure Administrator communicates and works closely with outside IT vendors regarding the repair and maintenance of DREMC IT components. This includes high-level server and network repairs.
PRINCIPAL ACCOUNTABILITIES:
Consistently demonstrates a behavioral pattern that supports DREMC’s 11 Essential
Plan, install, configure, upgrade, patch, and manage the DREMC virtual and physical server environment, network infrastructure, and firewall infrastructure. Proactively and reactively troubleshoot issues related to these areas.
Monitor the utilization of the DREMC server environment to detect potential errors or problems and provide necessary prevention guidelines. Monitor server and network environments to determine upgrade requirements and general utilization issues.
Maintain IT data security, risk management, disaster recovery, and business continuity planning processes and provide a regular review for accuracy and adequacy.
Test the restoration of complete servers to verify backup and recovery procedures.
Maintain confidentiality, integrity, and availability of corporate infrastructure including but not limited to servers, switches, routers, firewalls, web filters, spam filters, intrusion detection systems, and antivirus services.
Create and maintain documentation related to server setup and backup/recovery procedures.
Perform system administration, such as system backups, updating, and maintaining servers, enrolling new users and accounts, deleting users and accounts, revising directory structures, maintaining security features, creating documentation, installing software, and similar activities.
Assist with the selection and procurement of hardware and software, including determining end-user needs, preparing specifications, obtaining price quotes, creating purchase orders, recommending purchases, placing orders, ensuring that materials received conform with orders and packing list, and related activities.
Maintain knowledge of industry best practices and emerging technology.
Periodically review system usage, service rates, maintenance costs, and equipment upgrades; makes recommendations for updates and improvements to ensure cost-effective operations.
Studies and applies DREMC policies, procedures, By-Laws, Rules, and Regulations.
Effectively communicates with the DREMC team to ensure performed work causes minimal interruption to
MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS:
Education — Bachelor’s degree from an accredited college/university in computer science, information technology (IT), management information systems (MIS) or related field required. Five (5) years applicable experience may be considered in lieu of degree.
Experience — Minimum of five (5) years of experience as Windows or Linux Server Administrator.
Certification/License, etc. — A combination of the following is preferred: 1) VCTA (VMWare), SNSA (SonicWall) CCNA (Cisco), MCSA (Microsoft) or equivalent. 2) CompTIA Security+ or Network+. 3) Cloud certifications (Azure, O365, AWS, etc.). Must possess or be able to obtain a valid Tennessee Driver’s License. Must be eligible and remain insured as a driver by the Cooperative’s group liability policy for the automotive fleet.
Knowledge/Skills/Abilities — Knowledge of current trends and developments in the information technology field. Knowledge of VMWare server environment, firewall configuration and maintenance, computer hardware and software platforms, local area networks (LAN), web, cloud, and telecommunication systems. Knowledge of SCADA systems is desired. Ability to occasionally lift and carry 25-50 pounds. Ability to sit for long periods of time. Ability to stand, walk, sit, bend, stoop, squat, push and/or pull. Possesses effective oral and written communications skills. Ability to prioritize, delegate and meet deadlines.
