Mountain Parks Electric is a distribution cooperative seeking an individual for the Staff Engineer position in our Granby, Colorado location. Mountain Parks Electric has 65 employees, approximately 1,800 miles of line, and serves approximately 22,000 meters. MPEI is headquartered in Granby, Colorado located at an elevation of 7,935 feet, 90 miles from Denver International Airport and 25 minutes from Rocky Mountain National Park. The Staff Engineer will prepare construction drawings and material requirements for substation rebuilds, additions and modifications involving site work, civil, structural, mechanical, protection/controls, and electrical phases of construction. They will review various operational reports and provide summary reports and analysis of system loads and load balance using SCADA and other sources of data and recommend appropriate actions to maintain operation within system planning criteria. The Staff Engineer will provide distribution system planning and protection/sectionalizing: system load forecasts, construction work plans, environmental reports, and long-range system plans, in accordance with established policies, plans and objectives of Mountain Parks Electric, ensuring that the member/owners have reliable service.
Qualifications include Bachelor of Science degree in Electrical Engineering from an accredited college or university is required, with emphasis in electrical power desired. At least three years of experience working with electric utilities is preferred. Registration as an Engineer Intern and passed the FE exam is required; registration as a Professional Engineer in Colorado is preferred or ability to obtain PE registration in Colorado within four years is required. Experience with AutoCAD, word processing, spread sheet and data base software preferred. Must have and maintain a valid driver’s license.
