JOB SUMMARY & MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:
The purpose of this position is to provide engineering design support services and technical, analytical, operational, and maintenance support in the areas of system protection and control, substation and grid automation, and revenue metering. This position requires an Associate degree or Bachelor’s degree in Engineering Technology, Industrial Electronics or closely related technical area and three (3) years of experience in the system protection and control, SCADA or closely related area. This position requires a strong understanding of transmission and distribution system protection, control, metering, SCADA and other automation functions and applications.
JOB RESPONSIBILITIES:
Designs protective relaying and control and revenue metering schemes transmission and distribution facilities through the application of PowerSouth standard schemes and subsystems; responsible for the development of detailed design drawings of system protective relaying and control one and three line diagrams, system protection and control schematic and wiring diagrams, revenue metering wiring diagrams, relaying panel layout and specifications, AC and DC load centers, conduit and cable sizing, and the overall bill of materials; assist in development of protective relaying and control engineering and design standards and to continuously identify, measure, and improve system protection, control and metering R&D processes; handle multiple projects and work within a project team as well as independently to develop project deliverables while assuring schedules are met.
Designs automation and communication schemes for electric utility SCADA data concentrators, HMI (Human Machine Interface) configurations, and IED (intelligent electronic device) integration for transmission and distribution facilities through the application of PowerSouth standard schemes and subsystems; responsible for the development of detailed design drawings of communication diagrams, data concentrator programming, point database mapping, integration of IEDs, and the overall bill of materials; ability to assist in development of automation and communication engineer and design standards, continuously identify, measure, and improve automation and communication R&D processes; ability to handle multiple projects and work within a project team as well as independently to develop project deliverables while assuring schedules are met.
Provides technical and analytical support in the areas of protection and control, substation and grid automation, and revenue metering; responsible for independently coordinating the update of system records such as protective relaying system maps, operating one line diagrams, and other associated pertinent records related to system modifications; responsible for providing support for NERC compliance and performing special projects as assigned.
Provides operational and maintenance support in the areas of protection and control, substation and grid automation, and revenue metering; responsible for providing support by assisting in the installation and commissioning of field equipment and the response to resolving trouble cases on PowerSouth and member systems; responsible for providing support in the areas of substation equipment maintenance database systems, maintenance procedures and special projects as assigned.
