A day in the life
• Perform accounting tasks, verify data, and maintain property tax records.
• Create general ledger entries and ensure month-end reports are balanced and closed.
• Prepare and analyze monthly financial data, including spreadsheets for power bills.
• Assist with budget development by analyzing sales forecasts and estimating revenue data.
• Analyze work orders for process improvement and provide data for pricing future projects.
• Prepare reports for state, federal, and cooperative programs, including grant financial reporting.
• Participate in inventory counts, evaluate results, and recommend process improvements.
• Develop and maintain processes to streamline inventory and financial tasks.
Requirements
A bachelor’s degree in accounting or related field, along with at least two years of experience with preferred working knowledge of Rural Utilities Service (RUS) accounting practices, or a mix of education and experience providing equivalent knowledge.
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities
• Establish priorities, meet deadlines, and schedule workload.
• Remain self-motivated, work independently, and contribute in a team environment.
• Possess strong knowledge of Microsoft Excel (macros, pivot tables, interject, and data extraction), as well as Access applications.
• Perform moderately complex mathematical computations using addition, subtraction, multiplication, division, ratios, and percentages for reconciliation of debits and credits in general ledger accounts and journals.
• Resolve complex accounting issues through research and investigation.
• Understand RUS accounting principles as they relate to reporting, budgeting, and forecasting company financials.
• Understand spreadsheet programs and other computer related software and office equipment to ensure the integrity of accounting procedures.
• Understand sales tax regulations.

The starting wage range for this position is $31.71-$35.68/hour. The wage is determined by relevant education and experience. It’s a non-exempt (hourly), non-supervisory, onsite position from 8 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. at Braham, MN Headquarters building.
