Poudre Valley Rural Electric Association is seeking an Electrical Engineer who wants an exciting work atmosphere and to be a part of a team dedicated to exceptional service.
The Engineer I or II serves a vital role within the Engineering team, ensuring the development, safety, and reliability of the Association’s power system. This position is responsible for planning, design, and analysis that enhances system performance and meets members’ needs efficiently. The Engineer contributes to both long- and short-term system planning, conducts system impact studies, and manages key projects, including substations and other critical infrastructure.
Key Responsibilities
Direct consultants in producing system long range plans and construction work plans.
Develop or direct consultants in producing system fault, arc flash, and coordination studies.
Assist in designing and project managing the Association’s substations, transmission lines and other major projects by producing RFP’s, choosing consultants, and review/approve designs and deliverables.
Review the adequacy of the Association’s facilities to serve new and existing members of the Association based on planning studies and sound engineering practice.
Provide the direction and approval of the activities of outside consultant services related to planning studies, design of major facilities of the Association and other engineering services’ needs.
Assist Project Coordinator with technical support for any substation standards, substation drawings, and Engineering and Construction Standards.
Qualifications
Bachelor of Science in Electrical Engineering from an ABET accredited is required, emphasis in Power Systems preferred; Colorado P.E. license is preferred.
Engineer I requires two (2) years, Engineer II requires a minimum of six (6) years of electric utility engineering planning and/or design experience typically consisting of distribution planning, transmission planning, distribution design, substation design, and/or system protection and controls.
