Line Crew Construction Supervisor oversees the Pahrump line crew in overseeing construction, conversion, relocation, and maintenance of the transmission and distribution facilities throughout the area served by the cooperative. Responsible for assisting the overall planning, performance, and functions of construction, maintenance, and operations of the cooperative; test systems to ensure compliance with VEA and / or RUS construction specifications and National Electric Safety Codes; and assist the Engineering Department as needed. Coordinates the vegetation management program for the Cooperative. Will fill in for the Manager of Line Operations during their absence. Develops and contributes to a safe working atmosphere that operates in a coordinated and organized manner.
Education: High school diploma, and qualified by successful completion of a recognized apprenticeship program and by written exam as a journey lineman required. Experience: At least ten years of experience involving the electric utility and interconnected system operations, with at least three years of experience in a supervisory role, maintenance and construction work, laws and regulations is necessary; highly motivated, and demonstrate positive management and supervisory skills along with a strong commitment to cooperative principles and to providing excellent customer service. Have a working knowledge of electrical engineering principles, accident prevention, code requirements, personnel procedures, budgeting and general company policies and procedures; ability to deal with co-workers, customers and the general public in a professional and courteous manner. Language Skills: Ability to read and interpret technical information and documents. Ability to write routine reports and correspondence. Mathematical Skills: Ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals. Must have a solid knowledge of business math, such as percentages, allocation of costs, and monitor budget expenditures.
Reasoning Ability: Ability to carry out instructions furnished in written, oral or diagram form. Ability to deal with problems involving several concrete variables in standardized situations. Must be able to use independent judgment in problem solving of purchasing issues. Knowledge: Thorough knowledge of the following: related construction and specification codes; safety compliance; federal and state laws and regulations; proficiency in work processing and in the use of spreadsheet software; and knowledgeable to analyze financial budgets, expenditure of funds, power requirements, and associated growth factors. Basic computer skills, and have ability to communicate effectively, both orally and in writing. Ability to read, analyze, and interpret common scientific, construction, and technical journals, general business and professional journals, government regulations, financial reports, and legal documents. Ability to respond timely to common inquiries or complaints from co-workers, customers, regulatory agencies, or members of the business community. Ability to effectively present information to top management, customers, the general public, and the board of directors through oral and written communication.
