The successful applicant will report to our Ridgway location within our picturesque service territory. SMPA is a non-profit electric cooperative with an 80-year record of service to our membership. San Miguel Power Association, Inc. is a non-profit, locally-controlled rural electric cooperative with business offices in Nucla and Ridgway, Colorado. SMPA serves approximately 9,600 members and 14,000 meters and supports local communities.

Our beautiful service territory located on the Western Slope of Colorado, includes all or parts of seven counties. See Map. San Miguel Power’s corporate office is located in Nucla, Colorado with office locations in Ridgway, Telluride, and Silverton.

Greets and routes visitors, receives payments from members, disburses funds, and records monetary transactions.
Operates the telephone system, takes messages and performs miscellaneous secretarial, receptionist, and clerical tasks.
Receives, researches and answers all written and telephone inquiries from members.
Minimum Job Specifications
This job requires:
A High School diploma or equivalent required; college degree a plus.
Experience working with the public and customer service skills.
Basic math skills, computer & keyboarding skills, and legible handwriting.
Excellent verbal and written communication skills and excellent interpersonal skills.
The ability to easily handle multiple tasks in an environment with frequent distractions.
The ability to obtain and maintain a valid Colorado driver’s license.
Bilingual language skills (English/Spanish) preferred.
Knowledge & Skills
The Member Services Representative will have:
Proficiency in accurate computations, and the use of ten-key by touch.
Excellent organization and planning skills with minimum supervision, excellent interpersonal skills; ability to adjust to varied duties; ability to maintain confidential information.
Working knowledge of San Miguel Power Association’s policies and procedures.
Able to work well with others.
The understanding and application of the concept of providing quality electric service to SMPA members and superior customer service.
