We are currently seeking a skilled and motivated Utility Line Clearance Manager to join our team and oversee the planning and execution of utility rights-of-way clearance for three rural electric distribution cooperatives.
Position Overview:
The Utility Line Clearance Manager will be responsible for managing all aspects of utility line clearance operations, ensuring safe and efficient tree management around power lines. This role requires a deep understanding of arboriculture, effective communication with landowners, and coordination with work crews to maintain and improve the reliability of our electric services.
Key Responsibilities:
- Tree Species Knowledge: Identify and understand various tree species and their growth patterns to ensure proper clearance around utility lines.
- Line Clearance Fundamentals: Apply a basic understanding of line clearance and tree work principles to manage and supervise clearance operations.
- Safety Oversight: Ensure all line clearance personnel adhere to safety protocols and best practices.
- Planning and Logistics: Utilize strong organizational skills for mapping, planning, and scheduling clearance activities. Manage time effectively to stay ahead of tree crews.
- Landowner Communication: Act as the primary contact for landowners, addressing concerns and providing updates before, during, and after clearance work.
- Professional Representation: Represent Spoon River Electric Cooperative professionally when interacting with the public and partner cooperatives.
- Technology Utilization: Use email, laptops, tablets, and software such as Microsoft Office Suite and ArcGIS mobile suite for reporting and planning.
- Independent Work: Operate independently while maintaining proactive planning and problem-solving for complex work setups.
- Site Visits: Conduct regular visits to job sites and work crews to monitor progress and ensure compliance with safety and quality standards.
- Liaison Role: Serve as the liaison between Spoon River Electric Cooperative and partner cooperatives to facilitate effective communication and coordination.
Qualifications:
- Valid driver’s license with a clean driving record.
- Ability to pass a pre-employment drug screen and driving record abstract request.
- Minimum of 1 year of experience in utility tree work and utility line clearance work planning.
- Strong problem-solving skills and the ability to think through complex situations.
