Position Purpose:
Operate, repair, inspect and maintain the cooperative's substations and transmission facilities and record all field inspection data in a timely manner.
Essential Functions:
Perform monthly substation inspections.
Visit each assigned substation monthly
Visually inspect all insulators, switches, overhead conductors and general station condition.
Identify needed repairs and adjustments and report to supervisor.
Provide labor for maintenance to include substation apparatus, fences, buildings and gravel.
Record information records as required using field inspection software.
Update any incorrect field information using field inspection software.
Provide information as needed to Engineering to help update and maintain field inspection software.
Record substation meter readings at the end of each month.
Substation/Transmission maintenance and operations.
Perform substation/transmission maintenance work as required.
Perform recloser control testing as needed, or when directed.
Assist with other apparatus testing as needed, or when directed.
Assist in the maintenance, repair and upgrades of the SCADA system and camera system as needed.
Prepare load switching procedures and help implement switching procedures as needed.
Facilitate crews or contractors to accomplish needed repairs and adjustments in a time efficient manner as needed.
Reads and interprets blueprints, schematics and work orders. Applies this knowledge in the field.
Utilize manuals and resources to make sound decisions independently.
Understand and implement safety practices and processes of the industry.
Transmission Line Inspections.
Patrol each assigned transmission line monthly.
Visually inspect insulators, switches, overhead conductors and any other attachment.
Inspect transmission switches as required with field inspection software and record required information.
Update any incorrect field information using field inspection software.
Identify needed repairs and adjustments and report to supervisor.
Other Duties:
Detect faulty operations or materials and report all unusual conditions to engineering.
Observe and practice all safety procedures and bulletins and keep work area clean and orderly.
Perform other similar or related duties as assigned.
Valid NC Driver's License Required, Class A or B Driver's License Preferred
