Raccoon Valley Electric Cooperative (RVEC) is seeking a skilled and safety-focused Journeyman Lineman to join our Operations team. This position plays a vital role in ensuring reliable electric service to our members by constructing, maintaining, and repairing overhead and underground electrical distribution systems.
Key Responsibilities
Build, maintain, and repair energized and de-energized distribution lines and related equipment
Respond to outages and emergencies to restore service safely and efficiently
Install and maintain transformers, meters, and street lighting
Perform system inspections, maintenance, and troubleshooting
Operate trucks and equipment, ensuring proper use and maintenance
Promote safety practices and assist in training apprentice and lower-classified employees
Qualifications
High school diploma or equivalent
Completion of an approved electrical lineman apprenticeship or equivalent training
Valid Class A Iowa CDL and acceptable driving record
Valid First Aid and CPR certification
Must be able to pass pre-employment drug test and physical.
Proven experience in construction and maintenance of electrical distribution systems
Ability to work in all weather conditions, at heights, and during overtime or on-call situations
Working Conditions & Physical Demands:
May require irregular hours, including occasional evening meetings and emergency outages.
Some overnight travel required.
Ability to lift and carry up to 50 lbs, work outdoors in various weather, and navigate uneven terrain.
Activities include standing, climbing, bending, and using hand tools or testing equipment.
