A minimum of three years of experience with energy efficiency and renewable energy projects and technologies. Must have working knowledge and experience with federal and state renewable energy regulation and policy, such as net metering. College degree in related field is preferred; experience will be considered in place of a degree. It is preferred that the chosen candidate have Building Performance Institute (BPI) or Residential Energy Services Network (RESNET) building analyst/energy auditing certification, or a Certified Energy Manager (CEM) certification, and/or proven experience with energy efficiency projects and programs. Experience with energy efficiency/renewable energy grant writing and implementation, negotiating and executing contracts, and construction management experience are all pluses. The qualified candidate must have impeccable organizational skills and attention to detail with the ability to administer energy efficiency and renewable energy programs. Must also have the ability to analyze energy use data efficiently across multiple computer applications. The candidate will represent the co-op with external organizations, agencies, members, vendors and power supplier and must represent the co-op in a progressive, positive and professional manner in all relationships, both internal and external. Must have proven communication skills, both written and oral. Must have strong analytical and planning skills, be creative, and be deadline-driven and self-motivated. Proficiency with online programs, social media, mobile devices and applications is a must.
KNOWLEDGE AND SKILLS
This position should be considered one of SMPA’s main links to the members. This position requires someone who is positive and progressive in their thought process. They must be outgoing and willing to be involved with the community and various organizations in the community. This position requires the ability to work independently without close supervision, a full understanding of member service and cooperative philosophy, and a working knowledge of the policies and procedures of SMPA. The qualified candidate must understand utility rate structures and be able to calculate costs and impacts of energy efficiency and renewable energy programs within those rate structures. Must have interpersonal skills and be able to work one on one with members in a professional and service-oriented manner. Must be able to work with a diverse group of people and communicate technical topics to those not familiar with them.
