The successful applicant may report to any of our office locations within our picturesque service territory, with initial training reporting location in Ridgway. Our beautiful service territory located on the Western Slope of Colorado, includes all or parts of seven counties. See Map. San Miguel Power’s corporate office is located in Nucla, Colorado with office locations in Ridgway, Telluride, and Silverton.

Supervises the Service Planners, Engineering Service Coordinator, and right-of-way staff,
Assigns and oversees preparation and completion of project staking sheets, material sheets, easements, permits, estimates, costs and other related items such as the software interface with CIS and FIS systems,
Prepares departmental budgets and oversees RUS work order accounting procedures.
Consistently maintains professional relationships with municipal planning departments and has clear communication on upcoming projects as they relate to SMPA policy and electrical utility designs,
Works to solve project design issues and ensures a steady workflow process from engineering to operations departments,
Maintains a safe and positive work culture and professional environment.
MINIMUM JOB SPECIFICATIONS:
This job requires
A High School diploma or equivalent, and advanced coursework, training and experience in utility line design necessary,
Engineering degree with experience in electric system design (preferred),
Must have strong supervision skills, including ability to motivate and develop employees in the section,
Requires full competency as an electric system Service Planner, including overhead and underground line design and working knowledge of rights-of-way, easements and permitting,
Ability to work without direct supervision is required. Must show initiative, flexibility and interest in new technology and training,
Must work collaboratively with other areas of the company to improve efficiencies for the members,
A working knowledge of the National Electric Safety Code and electrical theory,
Effective skills with computers and peripherals (GPS, range finders, pc, etc.) and a strong understanding of staking, CIS and FIS programs as they relate to the staking and work order process,
Excellent organization, written and verbal communication skills,
Ability to represent the co-op in a progressive, positive, and professional manner in all relationships, both internal and external,
Valid Colorado driver’s license.
KNOWLEDGE & SKILLS:
The Service Planning Supervisor will have
Knowledge of principles and practices of line construction, service, and operations and maintenance requirements in an electric distribution system,
Ability to read and interpret staking sheets, all RUS specifications and line construction assemblies, as well as the NEC and National Electric Safety Code,
Familiarity with San Miguel Power Association’s policies and procedures,
Ability to communicate technical, complicated and detailed issues to non-technical persons in a readily understandable manner,
Understanding of the concept of providing quality electric service to SMPA members and commitment to superior service.
