The starting salary range for this position is $93,200 - $120,700 based on demonstrated experience and knowledge. SMECO offers an excellent benefits program including a 401(k) 6% dollar for dollar match and an additional 3% non-elective company contribution.
Position primary job functions include:
1. Supervising distribution electric system design activities associated with new and upgraded residential and commercial electric service requests, primary 12.47 kV electric facility extensions, and main distribution feeder and tap line distribution circuit system improvements.
2. Ensuring facility designs comply with applicable distribution design and construction standards, can be physically constructed in an efficient and cost-effective manner, and comply with tariff and other regulatory specifications, policies and procedures.
3. Providing knowledge and supervision in the support, implementation, testing, business process development, audit support, and use of associated core software applications.
The ideal candidate needs to have a practical working knowledge in electrical, construction, and / or civil site work related activities. SMECO will provide on-the-job training to teach the selected candidate SMECO utility construction nomenclature, construction processes, and related utility software systems. The successful candidate must have strong confident leadership skills and be capable of managing bargaining and management personnel. A positive attitude, drive, and initiative are essential.
This position requires an Associate degree from an accredited engineering, business college, university, or trade school in a job description related discipline and five years’ experience in the engineering, construction, or operations department of an electric utility, engineering consulting firm, or homebuilding / commercial work environment. Candidates with ten years of equivalent relevant experience may be considered in lieu of meeting the degree requirement. Business administration, computer, management services, power systems engineering, technical writing courses, and practical hands-on experience is desired.
