Journeyman/Apprentice Lineworker is responsible for building, maintaining, and repairing overhead and underground electric distribution lines in a safe and efficient manner within accepted operations standards.
This is a full-time position with benefits based in Maddock, ND. Position is hourly based on a 40-hour work week with the possibility of overtime.
Apprentice certification from accredited electrical line worker program with a minimum of 6,000 hours logged in the apprenticeship program or a Journeyman Lineworker certification. A valid driver’s license and commercial driver’s license permit required.
All duties shall be performed while maintaining and enforcing a very high standard of safety and workmanship. Majority of work occurs outside. Must be able to lift, carry, push, pull or move up to and not limited to 75 pounds in weight. Frequently required to stand, walk, sit, bend, twist and reach. Climbing poles or structures and operates power tools and equipment as needed to perform the tasks required for the position.
One of 16 distribution electric cooperatives in North Dakota, Northern Plains Electric Cooperative is the largest geographically. It serves some 11,703 meters of 8,214 members on 6,793 miles of line in a 50-to-70-mile area from south of Jamestown to the Canadian border. Counties served: Benson, Eddy, Foster, Griggs, Kidder, Stutsman, Wells, Pierce, Ramsey, Towner and Rolette. Headquarter offices in Carrington and Cando and outposts in several small towns, 42 employees work full-time to provide members with electricity and to improve the quality of rural life.
