The successful applicant will report to our Ridgway location within our beautiful service territory. SMPA is a non-profit electric cooperative with an 80-year record of service to our membership. Job Summary
The Fleet Technician
Reviews, inspects, diagnoses, and performs maintenance and repair work on cars, trucks, and equipment in the company’s fleet.
Ensures all fleet assets are serviced according to manufacturer specifications and industry standards to support safe, reliable, and efficient operations.
Minimum Job Specifications
Must be a high school graduate or equivalent and a technical vocational or trade school diploma or degree in automotive truck and/or heavy equipment service repair and maintenance is highly desirable.
Five years of experience or a combination of relevant education and experience is required.
Extensive knowledge of all phases of auto and truck repair such as tune-ups, brakes, charging system, lighting system, fuel and carburetor, exhaust, vehicle diagnostics and starting system.
Welding experience is preferred.
Computer skills adequate to perform necessary tasks including fleet tracking, electronic maintenance records and other general computer programs.
Working knowledge of OSHA requirements as they impact the mechanic’s shop and fleet.
The ability to work without direct supervision.
Excellent organization, written and verbal communication skills.
Certification to operate a forklift.
A valid Colorado Class A CDL driver’s license.
The employee to represent the co-op in a progressive, positive, and professional manner in all relationships, both internal and external.
