To direct the construction and maintenance of Blue Grass Energy distribution lines, making sure safe working practices are followed at all times.
RESPONSIBILITIES
Ensures line crews are constructing and maintaining distribution lines.
Ensures transformer banks are installed and maintained properly.
Performs personnel administrative functions including interviewing, hiring, training, performance evaluations, disciplinary actions, and employment termination for the department employees in consultation with the VP, Member Services and VP, Corporate Services.
Develops goals and strategic plans for department. Guides operations employees in assuring these plans are accomplished.
Sees that member complaints involving the operations department are handled promptly and properly.
Manages department to keep overtime at a minimum while continually providing exceptional member services.
Plans work schedule for crews daily.
Follows BGEnergy Safety Manual as well as BGEnergy policies and procedures.

POSITION SPECIFICATIONS
Education
High school diploma or general education degree (GED)
Work Experience
Fifteen (15) years’ experience in the electric utility industry desirable
Technical degree or lineman school training and ten (10) years’ experience may be substituted
KNOWLEDGE SKILLS & ABILITIES
Capable of skillfully coordinating various types of work by employees having various skills into a smooth operating unit. Familiar with Rural Utilities Service (RUS) construction specifications and the National Electrical Safety Code. Extensive experience in the operation, construction and maintenance of a rural electric distribution system. Must maintain good member and public relations.
PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS
Required to pass a physical examination when employed. Must have sufficient health to perform the essential functions, duties and responsibilities of the job.
WORKING CONDITIONS
Exposed to noise, vibrations, moving mechanical parts, and operating equipment. Outside work under varied and at times severe weather conditions and subject to irregular hours including nights, weekends, and holidays. Management reserves the right to disqualify employees for this position who cannot reach their regular work location from their residence within a reasonable length of time.
