West Central Electric Cooperative is looking for a Safety and Compliance Manager to join our team in Higginsville, MO. This full-time position is responsible for creating, implementing, and maintaining the co-op's safety programs for employees and members.
Key Responsibilities
The role requires a proactive approach to safety, with responsibilities including:
Safety Leadership: You will be an integral member of the Cooperative's Safety Committee, leading and conducting safety meetings and training sessions. You will lead safety communication efforts.
Inspections and Audits: You will conduct field safety observations, assess work practices and equipment, and assist with inspections from outside agencies like MECIP and Federated.
Reporting and Compliance: A key part of the job is preparing required safety forms and reports, including OSHA forms. You will also conduct incident investigations and manage the necessary claims and reports.
Program Management: You will coordinate specialized safety programs, such as dielectric PPE testing, the FR clothing program, and the random drug and alcohol testing program.
Qualifications
To succeed in this role, you should have:
At least five years of professional experience in the cooperative electric utility industry, with a focus on safety is preferred.
Certifications: You must have a valid driver's license and the ability to obtain an E endorsement within 60 days of hire. You will also need to become certified as a Certified Loss Control Professional (CLCP) within two years of employment. The ability to learn and become certified in CPR and First Aid is also required.
Technical Skills: Proficiency in Microsoft Office applications is a must, and experience with electric utility-specific software is preferred.
