Dubois Rural Electric Cooperative (Dubois REC) has been a trusted provider of reliable and efficient electrical services to the 6 counties it serves in southern Indiana since 1939. We are currently seeking a skilled and motivated Warehouse & Purchasing Coordinator to join our team.
The Warehouse & Purchasing Coordinator will play a vital role in maintaining the cooperatives materials, tools, and equipment. You will manage inventories, receivables, and distribution daily and during major storm recovery events. The role requires attention to detail, technical expertise, and a commitment to safety and efficiency.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
Purchasing:
Procure materials, tools, and services in accordance with company policies and electrical standards.
Solicit and evaluate bids, negotiate pricing and terms with vendors, and issue purchase orders.
Maintain relationships with key suppliers to ensure quality and reliability of materials.
Track and manage purchase orders from issuance through delivery and invoicing.
Monitor Budgetary compliance for purchasing activities.
Warehouse Management:
Receive, inspect, and verify incoming shipments and resolve discrepancies.
Organize and maintain warehouse inventory, ensuring proper storage, labeling, and documentation.
Conduct regular inventory audits and cycle counts to ensure accuracy.
Manage stock levels and reorder points for critical materials to prevent shortages.
Maintain cleanliness, safety, and organization within the warehouse.
Support & Compliance:
Coordinate material deliveries to field crews and respond to job site material needs.
Ensure compliance with safety, environmental, and cooperative purchasing policies.
Maintain accurate records in inventory and purchasing systems (e.g., NISC, SAP, or similar).
Prepare reports related to inventory levels, usage, and purchasing trends.
Participate in emergency response support (e.g., storm recovery) by coordinating materials and logistics.
Perform other duties as required or assigned by management
EDUCATION AND/OR EXPERIENCE
To perform this job successfully, an individual should have an equivalent of the following education and/or experience.
High school or vocational school graduate or have completed the General Education Development (GED).
Experience in warehouse operations is preferred.
Experience working with an electrical cooperative is preferred.
Experience with electric utility materials and equipment is a strong plus.
KNOWLEDGE, ABILITY, AND SKILLS
Knowledge of Microsoft Office products.
Prefer a general knowledge of electric equipment and an understanding of the basic electrical theory.
Prefer a general knowledge of standard utility specifications and the National Electric Safety Code.
Must be organized and detail oriented.
Ability to work independently and in team settings.
Excellent member service and communication skills.
Must be proficient with most forms of technology.
WORKING CONDITIONS
Outdoor work required in a variety of weather conditions in addition to normal office working conditions.
Occasional exposure to varying temperature conditions, including cold below 32 degrees and heat above 100 degrees.
Minimal exposure to fumes, odors, gases, chemicals, poor ventilation, dust and dirt.
Work is performed primarily in a warehouse with occasional office duties.
Occasional field site visits or travel to vendors may be required.
PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS
Must be able to lift at least 50 lbs and frequently carry items up to 20 lbs.
Regularly required to stand for long periods, walk on uneven terrain, sit, use hands to handle or feel, and reach with hands and arms.
Must be able to safely climb ladders, work at heights, and perform tasks in confined spaces.
LICENSE REQUIREMENTS
A valid driver’s license is required
Must possess (or be able to obtain) a valid Indiana Commercial Driver’s License (CDL)
