Operations Assistant/Inspector

Due to an internal promotion, West Central Electric Cooperative (WCE) is looking for a reliable, detail oriented Operations Assistant/Inspector to support our Higginsville operations team. If you enjoy a mix of office work, field work, and working directly with members and landowners, this role offers variety, stability, and the chance to make a meaningful impact in your community.

What You’ll Do

• Convert work orders to accurate “as built” records using the NISC mapping program
• Inspect poles and lines to assess condition, safety, and maintenance needs
• Work with members and landowners to negotiate, prepare, and record right of way easements
• Support operations staff with administrative and technical tasks as needed
• Inspect meter installations and ditches; deliver material to contractors

What We’re Looking For

• Strong computer skills and willingness to learn new software (Mapwise, ArcMap, etc.)
• Clear written and verbal communication skills
• Ability to work independently and manage multiple projects
• High school diploma or equivalent
• Valid driver’s license

Preferred Qualifications

• Two years of experience with a rural electric cooperative
• Knowledge of — or willingness to learn — distribution line design, NESC regulations, and right of way easement procedures
