Southern Maryland Electric Cooperative has an immediate opening for a CAD Technician. The primary function of this position will be to use Autodesk Computer-Aided Design (AutoCAD) software to create scaled Cooperative engineering drawings, plats, schematics, diagrams, construction prints, assemblies, maps, exhibits, and related documents. The candidate will complete assigned AutoCAD tasks relating to, but not limited to subdivision layouts, engineering and construction standards, primary electrical schematics, system planning projects, conduit drawings, survey plats, feeder maps, electrical one-line drawings, facility drawings, component assemblies, permit exhibits, and layout drawings. This position will assist with standardizing, maintaining, and updating the Cooperative’s electronic drawing number index and file directory. This position pays $38.66 with growth potential to a Senior CAD Technician.
Candidates with a background using AutoCAD in civil engineering, land surveying, and/or sitework construction disciplines are a plus for this position. Motivation to learn how to apply AutoCAD software skills to the electric utility industry is desired.
This position requires a minimum of a high school diploma or equivalent.
Candidates must have one year of proven practical “hands-on” Autodesk AutoCAD experience or an Autodesk “Certified Associate” certification dated within the most recent previous 12-month period.
