Summary:
The Senior Field Representative is responsible for:
Acquiring governmental approvals and land rights necessary for the construction, operation and maintenance of Great River Energy’s (GRE’s) transmission system and generation facilities.
Leading the purchase and sale of all real property needed for transmission, generation, and telecommunications.
Assisting in other land rights and real estate functions.
Functions as a project manager for assigned projects, including but not limited to, load serving, asset renewal and/or regional transmission projects on all land rights issues. Primary focus is on large-scale transmission projects defined as 100 kV or above with multiple stakeholders to includemember-owners, customers, and other utility companies.
Partners with other utilities on large scale regional transmission project efforts, when applicable.
Total Rewards:
A typical starting range for this position is $116,000 - $160,000 + annually. Responsibilities: Job responsibilities include, but are not limited to:
Lead project manager for acquiring governmental approvals and land rights needed for the construction, operation and maintenance of Great River Energy's (GRE's) transmission system and generating facilities.
Primary land rights project manager for transmission project communication to GRE work groups, member-owners, customers, public agency representatives, and other external stakeholders for projects, including but not limited to, load serving, asset renewal and/or regional transmission projects.
Functions as a project manager for assigned projects, including but not limited to, load serving, asset renewal and/or regional transmission projects for external entities and governmental bodies for facility relocation and transmission related incidents.
Qualifications:
Bachelor’s degree in real estate or related field.
AND
5 years of right-of-way experience required
OR
Two-year technical degree in engineering, civil technology or survey.
AND
6 years of right-of-way experience required.
At least 4 years of experience leading large project efforts.
A real estate license or in the process of obtaining a license is preferred.
Membership of International Right-of-Way Association is recommended.
Must maintain a valid MN Driver’s License.
Knowledge and experience in all facets of land acquisition including easements, fee acquisition, leases, permits, etc.
Knowledge of real estate law, governmental policies, land use planning and eminent domain is required.
Knowledge of transmission design and construction procedures as well as ability to interpret engineering drawings.
Knowledge and basic understanding of EMF issues.
Skill in project management to keep project on schedule and obtain input from stakeholders to make strategic decisions related to land rights issues and decisions.
Skill in conflict resolution including the ability to address difference of opinions or facts and use of the most appropriate method to reach an effective solution.
Skill in developing and delivering effective presentations.
Ability to make group presentations and professionally represent GRE at various land use hearings.
Ability to effectively communicate via the telephone.
Strong negotiation skills.
Ability to work effectively with a broad spectrum of public agencies.
Ability to work effectively under controversial circumstances.
Ability to make effective and timely decisions.
Ability to work in a well-organized, self-directed manner.

Powering what’s possible Great River Energy is a not-for-profit electricity provider owned by our 26 distribution cooperatives in Minnesota and Wisconsin for which we generate and transmit electricity.
