POSITION OVERVIEW:

The Manager of Engineering plays a critical leadership role in ensuring the safe, reliable, and efficient delivery of electric service to our member-owners. This position is responsible for the strategic planning, design, and execution of the Cooperative’s electrical distribution system. As a key member of the engineering leadership team, you will drive technical excellence, mentor a high-performing engineering group, and help shape the future of our distribution system through innovative solutions, reliability improvements, and successful integration of distributed energy resources. RESPONSIBILITIES/DUTIES:

• Provide strong leadership and direct supervision to the Engineering Department, including talent development, performance management, and succession planning.
• Lead the development and execution of system planning studies, load forecasting, long-range capital plans, and grid modernization initiatives.
• Oversee the design, engineering, and successful implementation of system improvements, new construction projects, and major maintenance programs.
• Ensure all engineering activities comply with applicable codes, standards (NESC, NEC, IEEE), and regulatory requirements
• Champion system reliability by leading outage analysis, root cause investigations, and continuous improvement efforts.
• Manage engineering consultants, contractors, and external resources to deliver projects on time and within budget.
• Prepare and administer the Engineering Department budget and multi-year capital improvement plans.
• Provide technical leadership for the interconnection and integration of distributed energy resources (DERs), including solar, battery storage, and other emerging technologies.
• Maintain and enhance system models, GIS data, and engineering records to support data-driven decision making.
• Collaborate effectively with Operations, Member Services, Finance, and other departments to achieve Cooperative objectives.
• Represent the Cooperative in regulatory proceedings, industry associations, technical committees, and public forums.

POSITION REQUIREMENTS:

• Required Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering or a closely related field.
• Minimum of 5 years of progressive experience in electric utility distribution engineering.
• Minimum of 2 years of direct supervisory or team leadership experience.
• Valid driver’s license and ability to travel as needed (including occasional overnight stays)
• Preferred Professional Engineer (PE) license in the state of [State] or the ability to obtain within 12 months.
• Experience with GIS systems (e.g., ESRI), distribution system modeling software and SCADA.
• Knowledge of distributed energy resources, grid modernization, and NERC/FERC compliance.
