The Systems Administrator supports computer networks in accordance with established policies and provides exceptional service to the users of Pee Dee Electric Membership Cooperative’s information technology resources. This position will work in close collaboration with the VP of Information Technology and Network Administrator.
Key Duties and Responsibilities
Maintain Servers and Workstations:
Install and maintain servers and workstations (virtual and physical)
Diagnose, troubleshoot, and repair servers and workstations.
Perform preventative maintenance on all devices.
Patch management for all devices.
Vulnerability management for all devices.
Manage backups for servers.
Configure user and computer based group policies
Software Support:
Install and update software for Engineering and Member Service departments.
Assist vendors with software updates.
End User Support :
Assist other departments with hardware and software questions regarding future purchases.
Help Desk support for users.
Prepare training materials and provide instruction to users.
Manage Technology resources:
Maintain inventory of servers, workstations, mobile devices, and printers.
Maintain documentation, including change logs.
Assist in maintaining the Business Continuity Plan and Disaster Recovery Plan
Assist in developing long-term strategies for technology needs.
Qualifications
Associate’s Degree in information systems technology. Will consider related work experience in lieu of educational requirements if there is a demonstrated ability to carry out the position responsibilities, based on substitution of two years of experience for each year of academic training.
Minimum work experience of five years in an information technology related field. If work experience is considered in lieu of academic requirements, the minimum work experience requirement must be met, in addition to any work substituted for scholastic training.
Must be proficient in Microsoft programs and other software applications pertinent to the Cooperative’s system (Microsoft Access, Excel, Word, Windows OS, and Server OS).
Must be able to troubleshoot and problem-solve a wide variety of situations.
Must be able to analyze situations and apply sound judgment decisions in performance of responsibilities.
Must be able to complete all assignments with attention to detail and accuracy.
Must be able to interact well with internal and external end users, handling inquiries and resolving problems. Conveys professional interaction at all times, thereby maintaining positive relations. Displays and encourages team effort for maximum efficiency and productivity.
This position requires the availability of the employee during bad weather or unusual conditions for all times of the day and night as well as on weekends to assist in restoration of service during system outages and emergencies.
Maintains a thorough working knowledge of Cooperative Bylaws, policies, procedures, and safety manual.
Must be able to attend periodic seminars, training programs, conferences, civic and professional events.
Must hold a valid driver’s license at the level necessary to operate vehicles in the performance of position responsibilities.
Physical Demands
Occasionally lifts materials up to 80 pounds. Frequently operates standard office machines to include computer, copy machine, and fax. Frequent standing, walking, with access to awkward positions necessary. Occasional climbing on ladders to a height of 10 feet. Frequent use of office machines requiring touch and vision for close work. Must have the ability to work in confined spaces and cramped conditions for sustained periods. Must be able to perform assigned duties in the presence of pollens, spores, dust, and other airborne particles. Normal work environment is 85% indoor and 15% outdoors.
