Mountain Parks Electric is a distribution cooperative seeking an individual for the Staking/ Design Supervisor position in our Granby, Colorado location. Mountain Parks Electric has approximately 70 employees, 1,800 miles of line, and serves 22,000 meters. MPE is headquartered in Granby, Colorado located at an elevation of 7,935 feet, 90 miles from Denver International Airport and 25 minutes from Rocky Mountain National Park. Experience gold-medal fishing in the Colorado and Fraser Rivers or take a boat out on Lake Granby, the second largest body of water in Colorado. Granby is near Shadow Mountain and Grand Lake and offers spectacular scenery, miles of hiking trails connecting Granby to Fraser, Colorado, downhill skiing, mountain bike trail systems, and down-hill bike park and cross-country trails at nearby resorts.
The Staking/ Design Supervisor is responsible for coordinating, overseeing, inspecting, and staking electric distribution lines in accordance with Mountain Parks Electric construction specifications, National Electrical Safety Code, National Electric Code, and Rural Utilities Service in order to obtain the most efficient and effective system design. The Staking/ Design Supervisor supervises and provides guidance, training, and daily direction for Staking/ Design Technicians and Land Rights Agent. This position reviews performance of direct reports as part of MPE’s performance management process and recommends wage adjustments. The Staking/ Design Supervisor also reviews and approves staking and design plans submitted by individuals under direct supervision. They recommend resources to achieve departmental objectives through the annual budgeting processes They also recommend annual operating and capital budgets to the VP of Engineering for approval and follow approved budgets.
Associate’s degree in related field; five years related and progressive experience working for electric utilities in the area of distribution line staking and right-of-way/permit preferred; knowledge and experience within an electric cooperative a plus; three (3) years managing/supervising experience; or equivalent combination of education and experience. A working knowledge of distribution line design, transformer sizing, construction specifications, right-of-way easement procedures, National Electrical Safety Code, National Electric Code, Colorado Department of Transportation utilities relocation procedure, drafting, construction materials, basic surveying preferred. Basic first aid and CPR certification is required within 6 months of hire. Must keep current and valid throughout employment. This position must have a valid driver’s license and keep current and valid throughout employment.
