Key Responsibilities
Engineer I
Under direct supervision, develops reports and work plans which recommend action considering short and long-range objectives, economic and budget considerations, etc.
Under direct supervision, develops and coordinates individual project work plans and manages through completion taking needed corrective action. Informs supervisor and manager of any major developments or changes in direction of the project.
Assists with status report for all work assignments and keeps management informed on progress.
Assists with preparation of estimates (cost, work order, schedules).
Analyzes data and makes recommendations and/or decisions.
Maintains technical records (e.g. drawings, files, databases).
Gains awareness of all relevant procedures, specifications, and applicable codes, regulations, compliance rules, and standards (e.g. RUS, etc.).
Gains technical expertise and awareness of job related field, and remains current on the industry.
Works with other team members and supervisors in carrying out assignments.
Under guidance, provides engineering assistance for Member Cooperatives.
Assists with the creation of corporate standards and specification related to respective expertise.
Develops working knowledge of sound engineering practices and standards.
Performs all work in a safe and timely manner.
Under direction, assists with operational planning (current day to 12 months) studies required to support maintenance or expansion scheduling transmission projects.
Under direction, assists identifying transmission system operating limits for first contingency and other abnormal system conditions; and under direction, assist developing operating procedures to ensure reliable operations under abnormal conditions.
Under direction, assists coordinating scheduled outages and other work related to maintenance or expansion that impacts EKPC System Operations.
Under direction, helps identify near-term transmission congestion scenarios due to limiting transmission facilities and helps coordinate efforts to have those facilities upgraded or replaced.
Under direction, assists with maintaining state estimator and real-time contingency analysis models.
Under direction, coordinates with PJM in daily activities and support of their operational models for real-time and next day analysis.
Under direction, coordinates with external utilities (including transmission utilities and member cooperatives) in daily operations and support of system maintenance and repair.
Under direction, assists with maintaining and communicating EKPC¿s facility ratings in accordance with NERC Reliability Standards.
Under direction, assists with databases and computer processes required for incorporating real-time ambient adjusted facility ratings in the energy management system.
Obtains working knowledge of NERC Reliability Standards and assist in developing processes and procedures to support compliance.
Under direction, assists Subject Matter Expert on related NERC Reliability Standards, including PJM assigned/delegated tasks outlined in the PJM TO/TOP Matrix.
Obtains working knowledge of operating EKPC transmission system within PJM RTO and in accordance with rules and procedures in PJM Manuals.
Assists maintaining system operations logging software (i.e. SunNet iTOA).
Under direction, assists developing and maintaining operator training simulator.
Assists reporting on system operations related metrics (e.g. SAIDI, CAIDI, TADS, NATF, etc.).
Adheres to FERC Code of Conduct and other confidentiality agreements.
Performs other duties as assigned.

Experience:

Registered Professional Engineering license in the Commonwealth of Kentucky preferred.
Experience:
Minimum seven (7) years of progressively responsible engineering work experience required.
Skills and Abilities:
Thorough understanding of business acumen, Cooperative financial structure, and business plans.
Proven ability to negotiate and resolve conflict.
Ability to lead and provide work direction to others.
Thorough understanding of commercial and contractual aspects of Cooperative business.
